I have purchased an A reg Ambassador and, as usual, the econometer isn't working. I took one out of a scrapped one but it also wasnt working. Tested by sucking on the manifold connection and needle didn't budge. Noticed brass pipe connection on rear of econometer was blocked so, as this was a spare, I decided to drill out the aperture. Lo and behold a brass blug came out and the aperture was unblocked. Repeated the experiment by sucking on the pipe and got a mouthfull of petrol or oil (pretty nasty), but this time the needle moved OK. I will now test on the new car, but does anyone know why this happened?
