re: Auto box problem

Hi Derek, I had a similar problem after a drain and refill. I accidentally overfilled the box and immediately after start up and still in park, fluid gushed out of the filler tube breather, It probably lost about half a pint before I switched off! The breather is a gauze covered vent in the tube about 2 inches down from the top. I think this happens because the fluid surges and goes up the filler tube and then there must be a syphon effect which keeps pumping it out, you may have experienced the same thing going up a steep hill which simulated an overfull box. The moral of this is obviously not to overfill and attention to the correct procedure of checking the level after running the engine in park and exercising the selector lever is very important. I now run my fluid at mid level and there has been no re-occurrence in about 2K miles. Is your box OK now, you don't say. Best Rgds Dave
