re: 1800 Summer overheating

Firstly, if your cooling system is in good nick, i.e. serviceable rad, working stat and fan cutting in at the correct temp you shouldn't overheat. Having said that, the fans on these cars are a bit crude by modern standards and firms like Kenlow produce excellent fans. I can speak from experience of fitting a Kenlow to an old Isuzu Trooper and kit and instructions provided made it a doddle to fit - the thermo switch is adjustable and can be wired up to a dashboard switch so it can be overridden if so desired. I must say though that in the end it was a blocked rad that was causing the engine overheating and that this is very common in old rads - re core or replacement is usually the only way in the end or you could try a propriety flushing agent. In my experience with several of my ""elderly"" cars though it is usually easier to fit a new rad than faff about. Rgds Dave
