No recent experience of electronic ignition although I did have an old Lumenition magnetic type that I transferred between cars a few years ago - it worked fine as I recall . If I was to go that route today I would opt for one of the integrated within the distributor types such as Aldon which use the Hall effect trigger. Electronic systems are only as good as the general condition of your distributor though and if your advance mechanism, springs or bearings are shot then the sparks will suffer just the same. The 123 Distributor made by a Dutch company sounds interesting as it incorporates a built in solid state adjustable advance curve. It's expensive though but might make sense if you need to replace your existing distributor. I aint going there though for the miles I do annually - checking or replacing the points and a service of the dizzy once a year is not really a chore and you'd be hard pushed to feel the difference in performance.
